Eye bruises or strains In case of eye injury, e.g. wound, strain or puncture, cover both eyes. When a healthy eye is covered, it will prevent eye movement in the affected eye. Lay the person down until professional help arrives. A burn in the eye Cool the eye under running cold water for approx. 15-30 minutes. Cover the eye with a light dressing.
