15. EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS 70 15. Equipment and Tools A defective or wrong tool, machine or instrument can easily cause an accident. Monitor the condition of your equipment constantly. Professional worker keeps work tools in good condition and does not use defective tools. The use of defective or broken tools is never acceptable. Take defective tools maintenance and report what kind of defect is in question. There is more information about power and electrical instruments in chapter 18. Replace worn or defective tools. Report any defects when exchanging the old tool for a new one. Don’t borrow or accept a defective tool. Use your tools in such a way that they cause no danger to you or anyone else. Machinery and equipment There are several machines that are impossible to stop quickly. In case of any unexpected events operators or anyone working close to this equipment should be alert to the following: General instructions: Use only equipment that you are supposed to use and that you have been trained to use. Before turning on the equipment make sure that the safety device is in its proper place and that switching the equipment on causes no danger. The equipment must have a CE marking. Make sure you know how to switch off the equipment and the location of the emergency stop. Don’t overload the machines or equipment. Keep the safety shields and gears in their places. Don’t forget the dangers caused by rotating parts. Follow any instructions and warnings there might be regarding the equipment.
